Eirgrid Chief steps down

Chief executive of Eirgrid, Mark Foley, has stepped down from his role.

The semi-State owned grid operator says Martin Corrigan, Eirgrid's current chief strategy officer and company secretary, will takeover as interim chief executive.A formal replacement process will begin shortly.

Mr Foley was appointed CEO of Eirgrid in 2018, having previously served as managing director of the land solutions business at Coillte.

No reason has been given for his decision.

Mr Foley has played a key role in recent years in progressing a number of large scale infrastructural projects, including planning for the North South Interconnector, the Celtic Interconnector, and the upgrade of cabling around the Dublin metropolitan area.

“On behalf of the Board, management and staff, I want to thank Mark for his leadership of EirGrid for the past 6 years,” said Brendan Tuohy, Chairman of EirGrid. “Mark has been instrumental in leading EirGrid through a period of growth and change and managed the country’s grid network through some challenging times. We wish him well for the future.”
