Two men appear in court charged in connection with €2.7m Meath drug seizure

Two men, one with a Laois address and the other with a Co Armagh address have appeared in court in Navan charged in connection with the alleged unlawful possession of drugs with a value of €2.7 million in Co Meath last Tuesday.

Fifty-four-old Thomas Delaney with an address at Ross, Rathdowney, Co Laois and Donal McDonald aged 58 of Mullaghabawn, Co Armagh were charged with unlawful possession of drugs on 23rd of April.

Detectives gave evidence of arresting the men and charging them at Navan Garda Station. Mr Delaney did not reply to the charges and Mr McDonald replied "not guilty". Judge John Brennan remanded both men in custody to appear at Trim District Court on 2nd May next.

The seizure of the drugs on Tuesday was a joint operation carried out by Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue officials.
