It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Robert (Bob) Farrelly

45 Ferndale, Navan, Meath / Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred of Bob Farrelly, 45 Ferndale, Navan and formerly of London and Croghan, Virginia, Tuesday 30th April,

peacefully in the care of the staff at St Colmcille's Nursing Home, Kells.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Kate, his brothers Bill, Tommy, Hughie, Joe, Mattie, John, Paddy, and his sisters, Bridgie Hetherton and Rosie Loonam.

Bob will be sadly missed by his family, sisters Margaret Feerick (London), Ann Flynn (London) and his brother, Brian (Croghan, Virginia), sister in law Anna (Dublin), his many nieces and nephews and all his extended family and friends.

Reposing at O'Dwyer's Funeral Home, Virginia, (A82 C2N6) this Thursday 2nd May from 6.00pm - 8.00pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, 3rd May, at 11am in St. Bartholomew's Church, Munterconnaught (A82 FK54) with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Hugh McGovern

Harmony, Heights, Cavan Town, Cavan / Garadice, Cavan / Leitrim

Hugh McGovern, Harmony, Heights, Cavan, (formerly of Garadice, Co. Leitrim). Wednesday 1st May, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Hugh is pre-deceased by his son Eamon and his parents Annie and John and sister Anna. Sadly, missed and remembered with love by his wife and best friend Eileen and dear father of Paul (Nickola), Hugh (Caroline), Caroline (Alby), Pauline (David), Teresa (Noel), Aisling (Killian), brothers, John and Patsy, sisters, Kathleen and Eileen, grandchildren, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, and many friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan H12RF78 on Thursday evening, 2nd May, from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 2.30pm in St. Michael’s Church, Potahee, Cavan. Deredis, Butlersbridge, Cavan

Margaret Mullavey (nee Teeling) Deredis, Butlersbridge, Co. Cavan. May 1st 2024 peacefully, in the loving care of her family and the staff at St. Joseph's, Lisdaran, Cavan.

Predeceased by her sisters Breda, Joan and Mary, brothers Michael, Philip and Bernard. Beloved wife and best friend of Jim and devoted mother of Caroline(Tom Hussey). Margaret will be very sadly missed by her loving husband and daughter, her adored grandchildren Lucas and Isla, sister Teresa Kelly, brothers Junior, Peter, Liam, Charlie, Gerry, Noel and Christopher, sisters in law, brother in law, nephews, nieces, all her family circle and many good friends and neighbours.

Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan H12 C821 on Friday evening from 5pm until 7pm.

Removal on Saturday morning and travelling via Deredis to St. Aidan’s Church, Butlersbridge for Funeral Mass at 11am.

Following Mass the cortège will travel to St. Aidan’s Cemetery for committal prayers and burial.

The death has occurred of Elizabeth (Lillie) Byrne, née Matthews, Derryleege, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Tully, Co. Louth, peacefully at The Mater Hospital, 30th April, 2024.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband John, daughters Mary, Theresa, Pauline, Helena & Denise, sons Charlie, Adrian, Barry and Rory. Sadly missed by her brother Michael (Phyllis), grandchildren David, Sinéad, Roisín, Ellen, Claragh, Sienna, Elizabeth, Harriett, Sophie, Isabelle, Isaac, Cian, Shane, Emily, Leon, Martin, Vanessa & Caroline, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home (A82R3W2), Hall Street, Kingscourt, on Friday, 3rd May, from 4.30 PM until 8 PM. Lillie’s Funeral Mass will take place in St. Peter and Paul's Church, Lower Magheracloone on Saturday, 4th May, at 10 AM, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Michael Downey

The death has occurred of Michael Downey. 'Housey', Patrician Drive, Carrickmacross. 1st May 2024. Peacefully, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Predeceased by his father Micheál.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his beloved wife Elaine & his mother Mary, his brother Anthony & sister-in-law Siobhán, his extended family and his many friends.

Michael will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 D328, on Thursday, 2nd May, from 4pm until 8pm.

Michael's funeral cortège will leave his home, Patrician Drive, on Friday, 3rd May, at 10:25am, proceeding on foot via the Castleblayney Road & Main Street, to St. Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
