Good news on traffic management front

A report on traffic management issues in Kingscourt, in particular at the Bailieborough Road junction, the Kells Road junction and the Market Square was provided to a recent meeting of the Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District.

Kenneth Glennon, Cavan County Council, said regarding the Bailieborough Road junction, a meeting was held to discuss a solution to the matter. He revealed that a short-term measure to upgrade road signage and markings would be put in place, while a scheme for repairs “will be explored”.

Mr Glennon continued to say that Cavan County Council is reviewing the status of the Kells Road junction. He added: “There is no easy fix here; significant investment will be needed to address any upgrading that is required. The local authority needs to explore funding options to carry out the upgrading works that are needed there.”

Meanwhile, the meeting heard that the Market Square junction falls under the scope of the Kingscourt Regeneration Plan. “This junction will be addressed through the regeneration project,” continued Mr Glennon.

“A contractor has been engaged to deal with the issue and we are waiting to hear from them about the plan in relation to that.”
