Walk clocks up €13K for charities

The proceeds of the 18th annual Mullahoran Walk, known locally as the Kidney Walk, were distributed at a presentation night recently in the Hideaway Bar.

Some €13,000 was raised from this year’s walk - which has generated almost €226,000 for 20 different charities since its inception.

The Cavan Dialysis Unit and Cuan Cancer Care Group each received €5,000 from this year’s walk, which took place on March 31 last. Kilcogy Community First Responders and Transplant Sport Ireland also received €1,500 each.

The hardworking committee behind this event are: Rose Dalton, Grainne Lovett, Mary Sullivan, Gary O’Reilly, Aodhghan Cullen, Donie Harten, Ann Cadden and Breda Lynch.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Rose Dalton had a huge thanks for all those who supported the walk and the main sponsors Lynch’s Gala and The Hideaway Bar “who can never do enough for us”.

She added: “We are so grateful to everyone who donated and helped out behind the scenes. Thank you for helping us make this happen.”

The committee shows no signs of slowing down and is already looking forward to next year’s walk. “Until next year, keep well,” said Rose.
