Graham takes the reins with Leitrim

GAA news

Former Cavan senior team manager Mickey Graham has been confirmed as the new manager of the Leitrim senior footballers.

Graham, who managed Cavan from 2019 to 2023 and guided the team to the Anglo-Celt Cup, was assistant to Andy Moran’s last year. It is understood Longford were also keen for Graham to take the reins following the departure of their manager, Paddy Christie, but the Cavan Gaels clubman has agreed a three-year term with Leitrim, subject to ratification.

Graham, an Ulster U21 and senior medallist as a player, also previously managed the Cavan minor team as well as Mullinalaghta in Longford, whom he led to three county titles and a Leinster club crown. He is also currently involved in a coaching capacity at senior level with home club Cavan Gaels.

Interestingly, Graham becomes the third Cavanman to also manage Leitrim, following on from PJ Carroll and Terry Hyland.

Meanwhile, the club football championships in the intermediate and junior grades throw in this week. See here for JFC preview.
