County final under threat if forecast worsens as Status Orange warning extended to Leitrim
Breaking
As of 8pm this evening (Saturday), tomorrow’s Minor and Senior Championship finals will go ahead as planned, despite the forecast of very inclement weather.
Gusts of up to 30mph are expected in Cavan tomorrow afternoon, with the SFC final between Crosserlough and Ramor United scheduled to throw in at 4pm.
Storm Ashley has prompted a Status Yellow wind warning for Co Cavan, with seven counties handed a Status Orange warning. Ominously, that has been extended this evening to neighbouring Leitrim, suggesting that the forecast for Cavan may deteriorate.
However, for now, it is a waiting game.
“At the moment it's full steam ahead unless things deteriorate before morning. At the moment it's a status yellow warning and things are going ahead as planned,” county board PRO Susan Brady told the Anglo-Celt this evening.
“It's a matter of wait and see what happens, at the moment there are no plans to postpone it.”
The board will review the situation at approximately 11am tomorrow.
