The Deloitte Access Scholarship was created by professional services network Deloitte to support wider access to higher education.

Meanwhile, Daena Gogarty from Kingscourt, a past pupil of O’Carolan College, Nobber is currently completing a Master in Diagnostics and Precision Medicine in DCU and she was presented with the Strain-Goldman Sachs Endowed Women in STEM Postgraduate Scholarship.

The Strain-Goldman Sachs Endowed Women in STEM Postgraduate Scholarship was created to support an exceptional female student studying for a postgraduate degree in the area of STEM.

Speaking at the event, Declan Raftery of DCU Educational Trust added: “Memorial and endowed scholarships make an enduring contribution to the University’s mission to transform lives and societies.

“By creating opportunities for doctoral research that tackles some of the world’s most pressing challenges, and opening a door for talented students to excel, these scholarships are supporting more DCU students to make their mark on the world. We are proud to honour those who created these scholarships, and our friends and loved ones who are remembered through them.”

The 51 scholarship recipients were selected based on different criteria, depending on the wishes of those who created the scholarship. These include undergraduate students supported by DCU’s Access Programme, postgraduate students in the fields of cancer research, education, law and journalism, and students with outstanding sporting and academic achievements.
