Cavan Gift Card launched
The Cavan Town Gift Card was launched last week, just in time for Christmas.
The initiative by the Chamber of Commerce involves over sixty business in Cavan Town, with hopes to increase this to eighty or ninety within the next few weeks.
"We're trying to get over one hundred between bars, restaurants, every other type of shop, retailers in the county town.
"We're working hard at the minute to try and get that number up," said Chamber chairperson, Philip Brady from the Sports Shop, Cavan.
The card is available from Cavan Credit Union and online as both a digital e-card, which can be sent via email, and a physical gift card. There will also be a number of cards available in shops throughout the county town. They can be topped up online or via the Credit Union in Cavan.
"You can pick up the cards, go home and put money on to that card."
Each card has its own number and instructions showing the owner how they can put money on it. Cards can be topped up one time only.
Philip Brady, said the response to the card so far has been "brilliant".
"We have a number of large businesses that have come to us and are buying corporate business cards for all their staff, it's fantastic, it's great to see it around the town."
The hope is to build the profile for the card in Cavan, "so that next Christmas, we'll be well on the way to having a very successful Cavan Town gift card."
