Achieve your goals at JW Fitness
Achieve your health and fitness goals with customised block workout programmes and supervised classes at JW Fitness.
In business since 2023, Justin Whittaker owns a supervised gym located at the Kilmore Business Park in Cavan, which provides personal training classes, small group personal training, one-to-one training, adult classes and body transformation programmes.
His eight-week block programmes focus on achieving your goals in a supervised environment with training and help with meal planning and calorie tracking from a professional. Justin aids accurate food tracking by logging what you eat in a food diary and checking in with clients weekly to ensure they are reaching their targets.
Currently JW Fitness is running three “very popular” eight-week block classes; a 'Body Transformation' class for those looking to lose weight and tone up, a 'Fit at 55+' designed for people over the age of 55 years to gain or maintain a “decent” fitness level and a 'Teams Fitness' eight week block, which runs twice weekly.
Speaking on the nutrition side of his block classes, Justin provides his own recipe book filled with foods and their nutritional values including calories, proteins, fats and carbohydrates to help people stay on track. His class members also fill out a daily food diary where they can track their calories. With weekly check-ins from Justin, who is a qualified personal trainer, the class guarantees results upon full commitment.
“They [clients] actually fill out food diaries and we track all their nutrition,” he said.
“I break it down, it's very very specific to their calorie intake,” he said, adding that he lays out the meal plan in “real simple” terms.
“I like to make it as easy as possible for people to understand and give them the tools to use as well.”
The results of his programmes show in customer feedback and increasing numbers showing up the gym.
“People always bring in their friends.
“I've got a lot of people here who've been losing weight and have had life changing goals set for them and they've achieved them.”
The facility also runs sport specific training to work on an area of your sport that you feel needs improvement.
“We do testing at the start and then at the end as well so it's all specific to that specific sport and specific positions in that sport.”
The team also works with Cavan Sports Partnership to provide classes with them. Justin had five years of experience working in a gym in Cavan before taking the lunge to open his own gym and is now in business for just over a year and a half. Originally from South Africa, Justin has noticed some changes in fitness trends between the two countries
“Having the good weather in South Africa, everybody just trains all year round,” he explained.
He has noticed that towards the end of January or the start of February, people tend to “fall off” their training regime.
“I just always say to people just try to stick to your routine,” he said. The personal trainer advised people to do their food shopping on a Sunday and plan your meals for the week, which will “keep your mindset to training”.
“It's all about staying consistent,” he added.
