Seven reasons to head along to Kells Panto
Dress up the kids young and old, order the popcorn, flex your vocal chords and book your seats early for another action packed, fun filled roller coaster ride down in panto land. Yes, it's Kells Musical and Dramatic Society’s 48th enchanting panto ‘Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs’ running from February 6.
Written and directed by John Grant this magical show is a classic tale of good triumphing over evil. It’s a story that has everything – a talking mirror, a wicked stepmother, and a bunch of dwarfs with names that perfectly describe their personalities.
Snow White, Ciara O'Neill, is a princess who lives in a castle with her evil and jealous stepmother the queen Blackheart, Barbara O'Neill, who is a witch. But Snow White falls in love with a prince from the neighbouring Kingdom, Seamus Ennis and they plan their future together.
Meanwhile, Queen Blackheart uses an enchanted mirror, Isabelle Costello, to tell her who is the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. When the mirror answers ‘Snow White’ Queen Blackheart has her taken into the forest to be killed. The huntsman, Kellyanne Costello is charged with the task but, takes pity on the girl, and sets Snow free. She comes across a little house where two sets of seven dwarfs live - adults and teenagers.
Kells have great comedy in store with wise cracking hilarious Dame Minnie Mildew – John Grant, the energetic castle butler Mr Fusspot, Stephen Stafford and the mad cap court jester Giggles, played by Louise Rogers.
There's music and dance galore with two original songs penned by John Grant ‘Lonely Tonight’ and ‘Think Yourself Happy’.
No panto would be complete without our lovely kind hearted Fairy Flu - Alanagh Gavin who manages to get through the show despite all her flu symptoms.
The committee are all working very hard on this eagerly anticipated production under the watchful eye of director John Grant.
With wonderful dance routines and plenty of great singing along with magical sets, colourful costumes, plenty of audience participation to keep your spirits up along with all your favourite panto characters, all dancing and singing their way to a happy ending. Wait a minute, oh no they can’t, oh yes they can. Anyway, to find out how it all ends you have to be at the show.
So put these dates in your diary: Thursday to Sunday, February 6-9 and Friday, to Sunday February 14-16.
