It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.

John Keating

Borris Road, Portlaoise, Laois / Virginia, Cavan

John Keating the Grange, Borris Road, Portlaoise and formerly of Killinkere, Virgina Co Cavan. Died April 17th 2025. Peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally. Predeceased by his parents, brothers PJ, Jim and Brian, sisters Mary Ann, Rosetta and Betty. Deeply regretted by his nephew James and niece Anne-Marie, his siblings Gerry, Patricia, Nuala and Carmel, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Keegan's Funeral Home on Monday Morning April 21st from 10am. Removal at 10:45 to SS Peter and Paul's Church for 11am Requiem Mass. A private cremation will take place at a later date.

Michéal Geoghegan

Fane Grove, Culloville, Armagh / Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Michéal Geoghegan, 8 Fane Grove, Culloville, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh. Former proprietor of M. Geoghegan Victuallers, Castleblayney. Wednesday 16th April, peacefully in the care of staff at Craigavon Area Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Kathleen, brothers Thomas and Brian.

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken family, his devoted wife Eilish, daughter Siobhán (Paul) and son Aaron (Louise), his cherished grandchildren Líle, Killian, Caoileann, Lauren, Jake , Pippa and Bridget, his brothers Seamus, Paraic, Donal and Austin, sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Michéal will repose at his home on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm until 10pm. Michéal’s funeral cortège will leave his home on Monday at 10.30am to arrive at St Patrick’s Church Broomfield for requiem mass at 11.00am, followed by burial afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Crossmaglen.

May McMahon, Corrygarry, Castleblayney, Monaghan. Thursday 17th April, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Michael (Mickey), her parents Paddy and Mary Hanratty, brother Packie-Sean, sisters Phil, Ena and Dympna and niece Sharon.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, her daughters Marie and Patricia (Martin), her sons Tony and PJ (Rita), grandchildren - Gavin, Ryan, Shauna and Michéal, her sister Babs (McGuinness), nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
