Minister opens Cavan firm's offices in Glasgow
Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital, and Company Regulation, Niamh Symth, cut the ribbon on new offices owned by Cavan-headquartered company Cleantech Civils.
Founded 1968 as P & S Civil Works, the business is today run by Killian Smith. The firm has been involved in several major infrastructural investment projects across the Celtic Sea to date, among them the installation of a 55-tonne steel access bridge to the Scottish Water Forres Waste Water Treatment Project, spanning 15.5 meters in length and eight meters in width.
The official opening of the new offices took place as Enterprise Ireland commenced a one-day trade mission to Scotland last week, led by Minister Smyth.
The trade mission visited Edinburgh and Glasgow with focus on strengthening trade ties between Scotland and Ireland and supporting Enterprise Ireland client companies to secure opportunities for growth, particularly in sectors including offshore wind, water infrastructure and agriculture.
Minister Smyth, who also opened a new Enterprise Ireland office in Glasgow, which will help support the 300 Irish businesses already exporting across the country, was also involved in a bi-lateral meeting with Scottish Minister for business Richard Lochhead.
The new Glasgow office is Enterprise Ireland's third in the UK, alongside London and Manchester.
“The trade mission reflects the strength and potential of Irish Scottish trade collaboration and particularly on the offshore wind agenda, with opportunities for Ireland and Scotland to maximise offshore wind potential through collaboration on supply chain development, innovation, and policy alignment,” said Minister Smyth.
“Given the wider context of changes and disruption in the global trading environment, strengthening our trading relationship internationally and maximising global opportunities is a priority.”
