It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.
Paul McEvoy
Gallonbawn, Crosserlough, Cavan
Paul McEvoy, Gallonbawn, Crosserlough, Co. Cavan, (originally a proud Co. Down man) in his 82nd year, Died as he had lived, gently, and in the loving care of his much loved family, on May 8th, 2025.
Beloved husband of Phyllis who cared for him with such devotion throughout his long illness, cherished father of Damian, Olivia, Shane and Austin, adored grandfather of who he called 'The Magnificent Seven'; Adam, Rihanna, Ryan, Rhys, Ben, Rocco and Senin, daughters in law Joan, Suzetta and Joanne, siblings Sr. Elizabeth, Agnes, Peter, Seamus, Mary, Michael, Eamon (predeceased by Patrick, Bernard, Anthony, John and Leo), sister in law Sr. Geraldine Smith, and a much loved neighbour to all in Gallonbawn, Aughterera and beyond.
Reposing at his treasured Gallonbawn home (A82 FH30) on Friday May 9th from 4pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Crosserlough on Saturday May 10th at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Fabian Greenan
Killeevan Glebe, Newbliss, Monaghan
The death has occurred of Fabian Greenan, Ayr, Scotland and formerly of Killeevan Glebe, Newbliss, Co. Monaghan, suddenly and unexpectedly in hospital surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday 6th May 2025. Predeceased recently, by his beloved father, Eugene. Cherished and much loved husband of Dawn. Fabian will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken wife and their sons Wallace and Finn, Dawn’s parents Davy and Carol Campbell, and Dawn’s brother Scott and his partner Lisa.
While geography might have separated us all, he will forever hold a place in the hearts of his loving mother, Aideen, his siblings Darren (Fidelma, Killeevan), Olin (Anna, New Zealand), Lucinda (Gerard, New Zealand) and Blanche (John, Tallaght, Dublin), his adored nephews and nieces Nicole, Macayla, Katelyn, Conor, Jessika, Jack, Noah, Laoise, Isla, Ava, Sophia, Orla and Leo, and extended family. The loss of Fabian will be forever felt and impacted by his many friends and by all who knew and loved him, especially in the many organisations he served, his beloved Killeevan Sarsfields and Monaghan GAA, Ayr Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (as a founding member), Valspar Football Club (Treasurer) and of course his friends, colleagues and students in Damilling Primary (Ayr).

The death has occurred of Rosh McConnon (née McDonald), Mullinary, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully in the tender loving care of the staff at Castleross Nursing Home, Thursday 8th May 2025. Predeceased by her husband Patsy, son Francie, parents Joe and Julia, brother Michael-Joe and sisters Mary and Clare. Deeply regretted and sadly missed with love by her son Joe, daughter-in-law Jeanette, grandchildren Susan, David, Michelle, Andrea, Nadine and Barry, great-grandchildren Jodie, Teagan, L J, Daithí, Tiernan, Layla, Ollie and Bobby, sisters Bridie (O'Sullivan), Angela (O'Donghue), Ann (Blair) and Vera (Quinn), brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 C653, on Friday evening from 4pm to 8pm. Removal on Saturday afternoon from her residence on foot via The Pound to arrive at St Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross, A81 K253 for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Carrickmacross.
