Residential property sales market heats up

2025 is shaping up to be a very busy year for residential sales. With increased demand leading to higher sale prices, it’s never been a better time to sell, according to local auctioneer James Spring of REA Donohoe Spring.

Such is demand, the local firm is appealing for residential property of all types in all locations.

“There is a long list of buyers looking for your property!” Mr Spring assured, adding sales are agreed and completed in record times.

“Most properties go ‘sale agreed’ in under four weeks and all our vendors are very happy with sale prices,” said the auctioneer.

He is finding huge demand, in particular for rural cottages and bungalows from those that require complete renovation to fully modernised options. The Vacant Property Grant scheme, coupled with low supply, is helping drive demand for vacant and/or derelict houses.

Grants of up to €50,000 are available for vacant properties, with a maximum grant of €70,000 for derelict properties.

The property must be vacant for at least two years at the time of application; it must also be built on or before 2008 and proof of ownership is required.

The grant is paid following completion of approved works with average payments in Cavan at over €56,000 per successful project to date.

Meanwhile, REA Donohoe Spring prides itself on providing an experienced, professional service with highly competitive rates and no hidden or unnecessary extra costs.

For those thinking of selling or leasing property - residential, commercial or agricultural - they can contact the offices for a free sales and letting appraisal.

“Some clients prefer an off-market sales option but, of course, we will give advice in every situation,” said Mr Spring.
