Cuilcagh fire 'largely under control'

A forest fire in the Cuilcagh region is now "largely under control" according to a spokesperson from Cavan County Council.

The fire, which started late yesterday evening, affected approximately 20 acres of forested area.

"The fire is currently smouldering, with no significant change in status at this time," the spokesperson stated.

"Fire service units from Dowra and Ballyconnell continue to monitor the area closely to ensure that the fire does not reignite."
