Rian’s artwork to feature on side of Wilton’s new brown bin truck
Kilnaleck National School was the big winner from a recent colouring competition ran by Wilton Recycling with prizes presented at a special event last week.
The local, family-owned waste management company organised the initiative to celebrate the introduction of a new organic waste collection bin truck and to raise awareness among primary school children about what goes into the brown compost caddy bin.
Students were invited to create artwork based on the brown compost caddy bin and the types of organic waste that go into it.
National schools across County Cavan, serviced by Wilton Recycling, were invited to take part. Each school shortlisted their top three entries, and Wilton Recycling selected the winners from those. The overall winner was Rian O'Reilly from Kilnaleck NS, who won a voucher for €200; while his school will receive a €1,000 prize. Rian's winning artwork will not feature on the side of Wilton Recycling’s new brown bin truck. Due to the high standard and volume of submissions, the judges at Wilton Recycling extended the prizes to include 2nd and 3rd places, plus additional student acknowledgements. Veronika Rudenko from Billis NS took second place; while Andie Forde Peat, Lacken NS, claimed third prize. Each will receive a €50 voucher for their efforts.
Wilton Recycling has 20+ years of experience, serving 8,000 household and commercial customers across the Breffni county.
