Success for Cavan team at the 50th All Ireland Safety Quiz Final
Abbott Nutrition Cootehill crowned Previous Entrants Category champions in major workplace safety event
Abbott Nutrition Cootehill, Co Cavan were the winners in the Previous Entrants Category at the 50th All Ireland Safety Quiz Finals held in Mullingar, Co Westmeath earlier this month.
The team from Abbott Nutrition, representing the North East Region, emerged victorious in a closely contested final with a score of 112 points [out of a maximum of 128 marks], demonstrating exceptional knowledge and commitment to occupational health and safety.
Also celebrating success at the event were Bord na Móna, Co. Offaly, who won the Novice category.
The All Ireland Occupational Safety Quiz Finals is run jointly by the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) and the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG). A total of 14 teams competed in the finals from all parts of the island of Ireland.
There was a great turnout at the event held at the Mullingar Park Hotel, Co Westmeath, with strong support for the participating teams from their co-workers.
In the Previous Entrants category final, Abbott Nutrition Cootehill, Co Cavan emerged as the overall winners with a 112 points [out of a maximum of 128 marks] ahead of runners-up, BioMarin International Ltd., Co Cork, who finished in second place with 105 points. The other two teams in this category performed strongly.
The results in the Novice Category finals were close with Bord na Móna, Co Offaly, emerging as this year’s victors with a total of 89 points. In second place with a score of 82 points was Clancy Construction, Co Tipperary, followed closely by MSD Brinny, Co Cork in third place with a total of 81 points.
Fergal McKevitt, President, NISO and Wendy Moore, Chair, NISG presented the awards and trophies at a special prize-giving dinner that evening and congratulated all participating teams.
Mr McKevitt commended all the quiz teams, noting that each and every participant should be proud of their efforts to improve occupational health and safety. He also thanked the participating organisations’ managers for the support and encouragement shown to their teams.
