Cavan’s Chilli Lounge wins Ulster title for seventh time
CHILLI Lounge has done it again. The Indian restaurant on Cavan Town’s Main Street has just won the title of Best World Cuisine Restaurant in Ulster for the seventh year in a row.
Raju Hasan runs the restaurant with his brothers - Muhon, Mukul and Hira. He told the Celt their family is proud of their achievements, but they don’t take anything for granted.
“We are trying with our food - its taste and its quality - all the time,” Raju said, “That’s the main thing for our restaurant.”
“We always aim for the best seasonality and quality in our ingredients”.
The guys at Chilli Lounge have made the successful trip to Dublin for industry awards on many occasions before.
In 2018, the team won The Best Newcomer award at the Irish Restaurant Awards.
Four years after that, they won the Best Indian Establishment in Ireland in the Food Awards Ireland. And every year after becoming best newcomer Chilli Lounge has won the Ulster World Cuisine title.
Raju explains winning the award still feels special all these years later.
“We really are happy to have that award for the seventh time,” he said, “It is a great achievement for this restaurant but also for Cavan Town. We are a family-run business, and it means a lot to us.
“It’s the biggest award event for the Irish Restaurant Association which is a great achievement for Chilli Lounge.”
Following their latest win, Mr Hasan wanted to thank his loyal customers and staff.
“The dedication and hard work from our incredible team shines through in everything we do at Chilli Lounge,” Raju said.
“A massive thank you has to go to our amazing customers for their loyalty and support because we couldn’t do it without them. So many people who love Indian food come to Chilli Lounge from Enniskillen, Lisnaskea, Virginia, Clones and that’s a big thing for us. It’s great to see.
“We are truly humbled and grateful for this latest recognition,” Raju Hasan said.
