Cowboys and Heroes celebrates its 10th year!

Country music lovers will this weekend gather for one of Ireland’s most unique festivals: Cowboys and Heroes. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Drumcoura City, a 50-acre western-themed ranch just outside Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, this annual festival is the number one Country Music and Americana event in Ireland.

Derek Ryan, The Tumbling Paddies, Jimmy Buckley, Johnny Brady, Robert Mizzell, Gavin Gribben, Paul Kelly to name but a few are all on the festival bill for the June Bank Holiday weekend. Running from May 30 to June 2, it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a fan of classic country tunes or modern Americana, the line-up promises something for everyone.

Throughout the weekend, festival-goers can experience line dancing demos and lessons led by the talented Gerard Butler. The festival's famous Country Disco, led by David Harrington, will keep people grooving well into the early hours.

Meanwhile the Best Dressed Cowboy/Cowgirl competition is a highlight each year. If you feel that you have what it takes, there is a jiving competition at 4pm on Sunday with a €1,000 prize money! If you have more of a voice than dancing talent there is another €1,000 up for grabs in the Country Star competition!

For fans of Western culture and equestrian sports, the festival also offers a thrilling line-up of Western horse shows and even a Barrel Racing Competition - a high-speed event where horses and riders navigate a series of barrels in a race against time, creating an exciting spectacle for all the family.

Those with a passion for American cars will be in for a treat too, with a stunning collection of classic and vintage American vehicles on display.

For families, there is plenty of fun to be had on the Monday of the festival. The family day will offer a variety of amusement rides and children’s entertainment, ensuring that younger festival-goers are entertained and engaged. Meanwhile, a fantastic selection of food stalls will cater to all tastes, offering everything from barbecue to southern-style chicken dishes.
