Historic double final for Billis NS

Billis National School is celebrating a landmark achievement in its long and storied history.

For the first time ever, both the girls’ and boys’ Gaelic football teams have reached the Cumann na mBunscol County Finals, marking a truly historic moment for the school community.

With 82 pupils and four dedicated class teachers, Principal Orla O'Connor said the milestone is “a testament to the talent, determination, and teamwork nurtured” at the school.

The finals will take place tomorrow (June 4), at Kingspan Breffni Park, Cavan. The girls’ team will face Bawnboy at 4:25pm, followed by the boys’ team taking on Redhills at 5pm.

Founded in 1826, the principal said Billis National School has “a deep-rooted tradition of community and education”, with this latest achievement shining “a spotlight on the dedication of pupils, staff, and supporters alike".

The school expressed its sincere thanks to Killinkere GAA Club and Lavey GAA Club for their support.

“We are incredibly proud of both our teams,” Ms O'Connor continued.

“This is a momentous occasion for our school, and we’re thrilled to see the hard work and spirit of our pupils rewarded in this way.”

The whole school community is eagerly looking forward to what promises to be an unforgettable day for Billis NS.
