Popular local businessman laid to rest
Tributes have been paid following the death of Philip Brady, formerly of Philip Brady Menswear, 89 Main Street, Cavan Town, who was laid to rest following his Funeral Mass at the weekend.
A well-known and respected businessman, Mr Brady of Mullinavarnogue, Redhills, was the friendly face behind the counter at Philip Brady Menswear for many years.
His warm personality, sharp sense of style, and genuine interest in people made both him and his shop a recognised cornerstone of the county town's Main Street.
Known for his kindness, humour, and easy conversation, Mr Brady left a lasting impression on all who met him.
Among those who paid tribute to the late businessman was North West MEP Ciaran Mullooly who commented: “I am very sad to hear of Philip’s death. I knew him personally as the face of a very successful business in Cavan for many years. He was friendly and personable and always good craic too. May he rest in peace.”
Mr Brady was also a talented personality on the football pitch. Redhills GAA paid tribute to him as a stalwart of their club and a valued presence in the community.
A crafty corner-forward Mr Brady has the rare distinction of winning a Senior county championship medal with Annagh (Redhills-Belturbet) in 1973, and an Intermediate medal with Redhills in the same year.
Mr Brady passed away peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and the dedicated staff of Medical 1.
He was predeceased by his parents, grandson Theo and nephew Seán. Mr Brady is survived by wife Rosemary, son Shane (Sarah); daughters Sinéad (Conor), Caoimhe (Cormac), and Derbhla (Ciarán); cherished grandchildren Pearse, Tadhg, Laoise, Páidí, Callie, Ríadh, and Ayda; siblings Vera, Philomena, and TJ (Patricia); extended family and many close friends.
