'Beloved' community woman and garden enthusiast passes away

It is with regret that we note the death of Monica McCormick from Kill, Kilnaleck yesterday morning.

Formerly of Conkera, Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, Monica was a keen gardener and bee keeper who spoke to the Celt about her passions in these areas last year.

The co-founder of Súil Eile Community Cafe in Kilnaleck was passionate about colour, and saw the beauty in everything around her.

In a post on social media yesterday, her colleagues at Súil Eile said: "We’re saddened to announce that our beloved co-founder Monica McCormick died this morning. She died peacefully after a long illness."

She passed away peacefully yesterday (June 7th) at the Lisdarn Centre, Cavan General Hospital.

She is predeceased by her parents Gerald and Clare and brother Aidan, and is sadly missed by her loving husband Eugene Farrelly, sisters; Miriam and Bernadette, brothers; Gerald, John, Thomas, Peter and Charles, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, her many good friends and neighbours.

Reposing at her home (A82 K6Y5) on Sunday from 5pm to 8pm.

Funeral service on Monday in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan at 2.30pm followed by Cremation.
