Brady takes chair of Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District

Fine Gael's Niamh Brady has been elected chair of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District.

Raised in a politically active family, she is the daughter of former county councillor, Madeline Argue, who served 25 years on the local authority. Cllr Brady is also the daughter of former Cavan Urban Councillor, Terry Argue, and the granddaughter of the late Senator Andy O’Brien.

Cllr Brady was elected in 2024, taking the seat vacated by her mother in the county chamber.

Last year's chair of the MD, Fianna Fáil's Patricia Walsh, was elected Leas Cathaoirleach.
