Support local by choosing ‘Created in Cavan’

Network members take over 20 awards between Blás na nEireann and the Irish Restaurant Awards

'Created in Cavan' is a collaborative food, drink and hospitality community supporting over 70 local businesses proudly producing top-quality food, drink, and hospitality experiences right here in County Cavan. This initiative promotes the best of what Cavan has to offer - authentic, high-quality food and memorable visitor experiences that reflects the unique character and culture of County Cavan. It does so under the guidance of the Cavan Food Network and supported by Cavan County Council, Local Enterprise Office Cavan and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

At its core, 'Created in Cavan' is an expression of the community of food and drink producers and food tourism services participating in the supply, production and service of quality local food and drink across County Cavan. Whether it is freshly baked goods, locally brewed beverages, or warm and inviting hospitality services, this brand represents authenticity, craftsmanship, sustainability and dedication.

Chair of the Created in Cavan Food Network, Norbert Neylon, emphasised the importance of community support, stating: “By choosing local, you not only enjoy superior taste but also support the hardworking farmers and artisans who are the backbone of our community. Visit the shops and restaurants of our members to experience the best that Cavan has to offer. Let's continue to celebrate and sustain our local food heritage together!”

Member businesses have received significant success, with nine members taking home awards at the Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards and 12 members awarded at the Irish Restaurant Awards this year. The network also plays an active role in contributing to the community by supporting and participating in events such as the Cavan Summer and Winter Markets, Cootehill Christmas Market, and the Virginia Show, alongside collaborations with Cavan Tourism and the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark.

For producers, such as Moran’s Mega Jam, the benefits are equally meaningful as they believe that “being a part of Created in Cavan means joining a buzzing community of local food producers, gaining powerful exposure in the market, unlocking epic collaborations and proudly showcasing our products with a passionate local foodie and creative group”.

With an annual calendar of events, interactive producer maps, blogs, and full member listings, the Created in Cavan website offers a gateway into the heart of Cavan’s food culture.
