Pride of Place in Drumnaveil

Congratulations were expressed to the Drumnaveil Residents Association in Cootehill, which is participating in the Pride of Place awards this year.

In expressing his gratitude for the work they have done in the Cootehill area, Cllr Conaty (SF) said "it would be great if we could get behind them".

He said they are currently looking for a sign for a cul de sac there, meanwhile they are preparing for a visit by the Pride of Place judges on September 1.

Cllr Conaty said the residents have expressed their concern over a pitch behind the estate, where the outer edges of the area are "way overgrown" to the point that the residents "can't handle" the maintenance.

On top of that, he said this area is being used as a "dumping ground" with items such as mattresses left there.

Area Manager Clinton Mulligan said that erecting a sign would be "no problem"; while he committed to "investigate" the latter issue with the Environmental Department of Cavan County Council.
