Leona Maguire Secures Top-10 Finish

Cavan native "very proud" of her performance

Ireland’s Leona Maguire delivered a stellar performance at the Amundi Evian Championship, finishing tied for seventh after a final-round 67. The Cavan native fired seven birdies in her four-under-par round to close on 11-under for the tournament, marking her first top-10 in a major since 2022 and her first top-10 finish on tour this year.

Australia’s Grace Kim claimed the major title in dramatic fashion, edging out Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul in a playoff. Both players finished regulation play at 14-under, one stroke ahead of England’s Lottie Woad and Australia’s Minjee Lee.

Kim’s victory was sealed in spectacular style on the second playoff hole at the par-five 18th. After finding water on her approach to the first playoff hole, Kim kept her chances alive with a chip-in birdie. She followed that with a clutch 10-foot eagle putt on their return to the 18th, sealing the title after Thitikul failed to match it.

Maguire, who started the final round tied for 12th and four shots off the lead, birdied three of her first five holes. Despite bogeys at six and 12, she picked up additional birdies at nine, 11, 15, 17 and 18. Her consistent ball-striking and composed finish earned her a share of seventh with Ariya Jutanugarn, each collecting $245,081 in prize money.

Reflecting on her week, Maguire said she was "very proud" of her performance, especially given the challenging conditions of the Evian course. “I executed a lot of great shots, especially coming down the stretch today,” she noted.

This result is a timely boost for the 30-year-old, who has seen her world ranking drop from 10th to 85th over the past two years. With the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl just weeks away, Maguire will take confidence from her strong showing as she returns to Wales, the site of her British Ladies Amateur triumph in 2017.Leona Maguire Secures Top-10 Finish at Evia
