Cavan woman among Fulbright awardees

A Cavan woman is one of 18 Fulbright Irish Awardees for 2025-2026, and will now travel to the US to teach Irish at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Eimear Coyle is an Irish and Home Economics teacher with a strong passion for language and education.

The former Loreto College student will now take up a role on the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Programme, a grant for individuals to teach their native language at a US college or university for an academic year - August 2025 to August 2026.

Fulbright is the bilateral exchange programme that serves to strengthen international relations by facilitating academic and cultural exchanges globally for almost eight decades.

Recipients were presented with Awards at a ceremony in the U.S. Embassy.

The award is in recognition of Ms Coyle's commitment to teaching. She was previously awarded a scholarship by Atlantic Technological University to pursue a Masters in Education, which she completed in May 2024.

“Eimear maintains a strong focus on promoting Irish language, music and culture in both formal classroom settings and informal settings. Eimear has been particularly active within Irish youth clubs, where young people can engage with the language in enjoyable ways,” acknowledged a spokesperson for Fulbright programme.
