Sean Rock's funeral to take place in Monaghan on Monday

The funeral of esteemed broadcaster and actor Seán Rocks will take place on Monday at 11am in St Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan Town, followed by burial in the cathedral cemetery.

Mr Rocks, known as the voice of Arena on RTÉ Radio 1, passed away in Dublin on Wednesday after a brief illness, aged 64.

A proud Co Monaghan native, he had been on air as recently as the Friday before his death.

His sudden death has deeply saddened loyal listeners, colleagues, and the wider arts community, who remember him for his passion, warmth, and enduring contribution to Irish cultural life.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; and sons, Morgan and Christian, and predeceased by his parents Paddy and Philly and his brother Eamon who died in infancy.

Seán will be deeply missed by his beloved Catherine, adored and adoring sons Christian and Morgan, his brothers and sisters Pádraig, Siobhán, Ciarán (Luisa), Gráinne (Kevin), his niece Hannah, his nephew Matthew, extended family, friends, work colleagues and his many listeners.

Seán will be reposing at Clerkins Funeral Home Milltown, Monaghan (H18YF22) on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 from 3-6pm.

Seáns funeral procession will arrive to St Macartan’s Cathedral on Monday morning for 11am Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Funeral Mass will be live streamed.
