Early-Stage Dementia Activity Club Launching in Cavan by The Alzheimer Society of Ireland

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (The ASI) is pleased to announce the launch of its new Early-Stage Dementia Activity Club in County Cavan, starting on Tuesday, 12th August, designed to provide a welcoming space for people living with early-stage dementia. The club offers a unique opportunity for connection, creativity, and fun, all within a supportive environment.

“We are thrilled to be enhancing our support services in Cavan. Dementia can be a very isolating condition, and outlets like this Activity Club give people the opportunity to connect with others and engage in activities that improve their well-being,” says Carol Molloy, The ASI’s Regional Operations Manager for Northwest.

Every Tuesday from 10:00am to 1:00pm, the club will take place at the Cavan Day Centre, Cathedral Road, offering a variety of activities aimed at building friendships and exploring new hobbies. The sessions are free and open to anyone living with early-stage dementia.

There are an estimated 1,058 people living with dementia in Cavan with an estimated 64,000 people with the condition affected in Ireland.

“We welcome people in Cavan living with early-stage dementia to join our new Activity Club,” said Mildred Morton at The ASI. “It’s a fantastic way to meet others, have a chat, engage in enjoyable activities, and be part of a supportive community,” says Carol Molloy.

The Early-Stage Dementia Activity Club is part of The ASI’s ongoing efforts to create inclusive and accessible services for those living with dementia. The club offers participants a space where they can enjoy activities while also finding comfort in knowing they are not alone on their journey.
