McGahern gets Traitor's spin-off gig

Gowna native Kevin McGahern has been announced as the host of RTÉ's The Traitors Ireland: 'Uncloaked', the spin-off companion show to the eagerly awaited The Traitors Ireland.

The Cavan comedian and actor has been tasked with taking viewers and several chosen celebrity guests on an access-all-areas journey in dissecting the drama, twists, deceptions and manipulations of the show, not to mention an exclusive interview with banished or murdered players as well as bonus unseen footage.

Set at Slane castle, The Traitors Ireland sees a group of strangers work together on challenges to earn prize money, all while secretly trying to identify the 'traitors' hidden among them.

To be filmed in RTÉ Limerick, 'Uncloaked' will be available on RTÉ Television, RTÉ Player, and all podcast platforms.

McGahern, who rose to fame through his work presenting Republic of Telly has become a household name on Irish TV, with appearances on Dancing with the Stars, and more recently starring in two separate television series.

One of those was Video Nasty, a dark comedy drama series set in the mid 1980s shot in counties Cavan (Cootehill Men’s shed); Monaghan (Glaslough, Monaghan Town, Tully, Emyvale, Glennan and Rossmore Park); and Tyrone.

He also appeared on RTÉ's Cheap European Houses, presenting alongside co-host Maggie Molloy and they jet-setted across Europe to the likes of Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, trying to help Irish couples choose a suitable house to live in overseas.
