Extensions approved for two schools
The contract for a major extension to St. Brigid's National School, Killoughter near Redhills has now been awarded,
while an extension to Mullahoran National School has been given the go-ahead.
Work on the Killoughter project will commence within weeks and will consist of one mainstream classroom and a three classroom SEN base for children with Special Educational Needs.
The Mullahoran build meanwhile will consist of one classroom SEN base and one SET to cater particularly for children with Special Education Needs.
Welcomed
Both announcements were welcomed by Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith, who praised the work done and “strong advocacy” of the respective school principals, their staff, Board of Managements and Parents' Associations.
“I compliment the wider school community on their work and wish good luck to all involved in this welcome building project,” said Deputy Smith, who in respect of the Mullahoran project thanked local councillor Philip Brady for his support.
“Along with Councillor Phillip Brady I will continue to support the Mullahoran community as they seek to enhance and expand amenities in their area " stated Deputy Smith.
