High temperatures expected later this week

National forecaster Met Éireann says temperatures across Ireland could reach as high as 28 degrees later this week in some parts of the country, with the country braced for a seasonal warm spell before children head back to school.

Wednesday will be warm and humid with sunny spells to begin.

"Scattered cloud will build through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees for most with light to moderate southerly breezes."

Thursday meanwhile will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers to begin with before long spells of sunshine break through in the afternoon and evening as showers ease.

Highest temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees in light to moderate southwest breezes.

Friday will see sunny spells with light outbreaks of rain breaking up through the day with highest temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees with light easterly or variable breezes.

For those lucky enough to have tickets to see Oasis in Croke Park at the weekend, the warm weather spell is set to continue.

"Likely continuing warm and settled into the weekend with temperatures generally in the low to mid-twenties and light easterly breezes. Plenty of dry weather too, though further showers are possible at times," says Met Eireann.
