Two arrested following Virginia altercation

“Investigations are ongoing” say gardaí.

Two men have been charged in connection with a public order incident in Virginia earlier this week.

Gardaí arrested the men, both aged in their 20's, who had stripped to the waist and were found by officers squaring up to each other late on Monday, August 11.

The detection came about as gardaí implemented additional patrols in the local area to better manage the large numbers turning out to enjoy the good weather and curb any potential outbreak of anti-social behaviour.

The men will appear before the courts at a later date, and “investigations are ongoing” say gardaí.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochána confirmed: “Gardaí on patrol attended the scene of a public order incident, that occurred in Virginia, Co. Cavan, on Monday 11th August 2025 at approximately 10.10pm.

Two men (aged in their 20’s) were arrested in connection with the incident. They have since been charged, and are expected to appear before the courts at a later date.”
