It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan as reported on RIP.ie in the last few days.

Geraldine Mooney

(née Brady)

Greystones, Wicklow / Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Geraldine Mooney (née Brady) Greystones, Co. Wicklow and late of Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan. It is with broken hearts that the Mooney family announce the passing of the beautiful soul of Geraldine Mooney (née Brady of Ballyjamesduff, 16th October 1942 - 13th August 2025) surrounded by her loving family, in the kind care of staff at St. Vincent's University Hospital after a courageous battle against an illness that she always bore with the greatest dignity, patience and her inimitable elegance.

Deeply loved wife and soul mate of Phil Mooney, best mother of all time to Phil, David, Aisling, Rachel and Julianne and greatest sister to Olive Broderick, Geraldine will be forever loved and missed.

Geraldine's love for each person she touched will be keenly missed by all, and especially by her sons-in-law Mitchel and Dan, daughters-in-law Esther and Kristen, her eight beautiful grandchildren Philip, Katherine, Mia, Daniel, Cathal, Cian, Saoirse and Jack and all the cousins, extended family in both Mooney and Brady families and her wide circle of friends that she kept close throughout her whole life.

Funeral Mass on Saturday 16th August at 11am in The Holy Rosary Church, Greystones followed by Interment in Kilquade New Cemetery.

Boleboy, Killasser, Swinford, Mayo / Clontibret, Monaghan

Kathleen Browne née McAdam, Boleboy, Killasser, Swinford Co. Mayo, formerly of Moysnatt, Clontibret, Co. Monaghan. Peacefully at Mayo University Hospital. Surrounded by the love of her devoted family on 14th of August 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Michael Joe and cherished daughter of the late Margaret and Charles.

Re-united again with her darling son John Charles and infant daughter Angela, sisters Imelda, Marion, Ethna, Sadie, Anna and Margaret.

Kathleen will be deeply missed by her loving children, Tina, Michael, Philip, Patricia and Dympna, sons in law Shane, Chris and Paul, daughters in law Caroline and Mary, her ten grandchildren, Alexander, Gabrielle, Douglas, Olivia, Emily, Christopher, Matthew, Rebecca, Theo and Nathan, her sisters Carmel (O’Sullivan), Nuala, Dympna and Clare, brothers in law Tom (Browne) and Dan (O’Sullivan) and her sister in law Christine (Browne) and all her extended and much loved family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Boland’s Funeral Home, Swinford (F12K122) this Saturday evening, 16th August from 6 pm to 8 pm with removal to All Saints Church, Killasser to arrive at 8.30 pm.

Funeral Mass this Sunday afternoon, 17th August at 3 pm in All Saints Church, Killasser, followed by burial afterwards in Killasser Cemetery.

54 Fatima Court, Dundalk, Louth / Castleblayney, Monaghan

Formerly Drumlane, Castleblayney. Peacefully, in the dedicated care of the staff of St. Francis’ Nursing Home, Mount Oliver. Predeceased by her husbands John McCabe (St. Nicholas’ Avenue) and Stephen Conroy, parents John and Bridget and siblings John, Vincent, Francis, Brendan (in infancy), Ena, Dympna, Bridie and Goretti. She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken sons and daughters Brendan, Finnbar, Barry, Stephanie, Michele, Edmund and Leon, sons-in-law Laurence, Karl and Niall, daughters-in-law Barbara, Dolores and Ann-Marie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Phyllis and Monica, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family circle, neighbours and friends.

May She Rest in Peace

Reposing at her home (A91 V1H7) on Thursday, August 14th from 7pm-9pm and on Friday, August 15th from 2pm-9pm. Removal on Saturday at 10.30am, proceeding on foot to St. Joseph's Church, Castletown, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The family wish to acknowledge the exceptional attention Maureen received from the dedicated staff and Franciscan Sisters at St. Francis’ Nursing Home. Their warmth and kindness will not be forgotten.
