No serious injuries in Whitegate collision

The collision involved two vehicles

WHITEGATE near Virginia was the scene of another collision this afternoon as emergency services attended a two-vehicle incident.

Gardai confirmed to the Celt the passengers in both vehicles received "minor injuries" in the collision.

Traffic had formed as gardaí and other emergency services attended the scene around 4 o'clock but, a garda spokesperson said the road has now been cleared and traffic flowing as normal again.

Road safety concerns on the stretch of the N3 at Whitegate have been highlighted repeatedly in recent years, as well as a number of protests staged.

A garda spokesperson said: "There were no serious injuries and the road has now been cleared."
