Status orange forest fire risk alert for Monaghan
Monaghan County Council says warning in place until noon Monday
WITH temperatures expected to reach a high of 25 degrees in Ulster today, Monaghan County Council has issued a status orange high forest fire risk.
The warning is to remain in place until 12pm tomorrow (Monday) lunchtime.
The advice to the public is not to light barbecues or open fires in forests and, if you are visiting a wooded area to park responsibly - do not block emergency access to public spaces.
"Arising from current weather patterns a high fire risk is deemed to exist in all areas where hazardous fuels such as dead grasses and shrub fuels such as heather and gorse exist," the council said in an online statement.
Anyone who detects a fire is asked to call 112 immediately, quickly move to a safe location, and follow emergency instructions.
