Minister Smyth encourages participation in 2025 Call for Submissions
Calls for submissions on Ireland’s screening programmes launched by NSAC
Fianna Fáil Minister, Niamh Smyth, has backed calls by the National Screening Advisory Committee for public participation in their Calls for Submissions 2025.
The National Screening Advisory Committee informs the Minister for Health of the introduction of new population-based screening programmes or changes to existing programmes.
The Calls for Submissions is an annual process of which members of the public and healthcare professionals can make recommendations to existing screening programmes or make recommendations of new screening programmes, something that is important for the committee to consider, says Smyth.
“I would encourage the population and health professionals across Cavan/Monaghan to engage with the NSAC’s Call for Submissions campaign. The Calls for Submissions is vital for the committee, as it informs the work they carry out.
“Public health screening is a vital component for early detection for the likes of cancers, diabetes, and hearing loss. The Programme for Government commits to the continued expansion of screening programmes to further improve the health of our population,” she added.
The Call for Submissions presents the general population and health professionals the opportunity to consider how they can improve, amend, or recommend new screening procedures for relevant diseases.
“The Calls for Submissions is a great way for transparent consultation between the NSAC and the general public. It is vital we have public voice at the heart of this, and that is why we value that and encourage participation.
“The deadline for submissions is 12th of September 2025 at 5pm. Have your say, your voice is important,” Minister Smyth concluded.
