Bereavement notices for Cavan and Monaghan

It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan as reported on RIP.ie in the last few days.

Aiden Browne

Butlersbridge, Cavan

The recent death has occurred of Aiden Browne, Bristol, and formerly Butlersbridge, County Cavan, peacefully on the 12th of August, 2025. Predeceased by his parents Sean and Dympna, and his brother Sean Junior . He is survived by his loving husband Peter, his siblings, Marie, Jimmy, Noeleen, Theresa, Carol, Noel, and Kevin, his adored nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, sisters in law, brothers in law, his wide circle of friends in London, Bristol, and Butlersbridge.

May he rest in peace.

Funeral mass on Monday, the 15th of September, in St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 71 Gloucester Road, Bristol. A memorial mass for Aidan will take place at a later date in St. Aiden's Church, Butlersbridge.

Thomas Mc Govern

Gubnagree, Bawnboy, Cavan

And late of Lough Erril Nursing Home, Mohill, Co. Leitrim. Peacefully at the North West Hospice Sligo. Deeply regretted by his family friends and neighbours.

Tommy's remains will arrive to Saint Patrick's Church, Corlough Via Clarbally Lane at 2pm on Saturday for Mass of The Resurrection, followed by burial in the family plot in adjoining cemetery .

Hugh McManus Cortoon, Corlough, Co. Cavan. 22 August 2025

peacefully surrounded by his loving family, in the exceptional care of the staff of Medical one and the palliative care team of Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by his parents Hugh and Agnes, brothers, Pat, Mick and James and his son P.J.

Hugh will be forever missed by his loving wife Josie, son Hughie (Fiona) and daughter Agnes (Les), his grandchildren, Cormac, Eimear, Farrah and Aodhgán his sister Mary (U.S.A.) nieces, nephews extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral Home, High Street, Ballinamore (N41TD62) on Sunday 24th August from 4pm to 6pm.

Removal from his home on Monday for Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Corlough at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

House private please. Family flowers only, donations in lieu of Hugh’s memory to Patient Comfort Fund, Coronary Care Unit, Medical One, Cavan General Hospital.

Swords, Dublin / Clones, Monaghan

GRANT (née Rooney), Angeline (Swords, Co. Dublin & formerly of Clones, Co. Monaghan.) - August 21st, 2025 (peacefully) at home. Beloved wife of the late Séamus (James) and cherished mother of Fulton, Karl, Michelle, Corina and James. Sadly missed by her loving daughters-in-law Fyona, Sinéad and Tereza, sons-in-law Patrick and Christopher, her adored grandchildren Niamh, Dearbhla, Séamus, Jordi, Orla, Shane, Evie, Caraleigh, Oliver, Corbyn-Rose and Kryštof, great-granddaughter Saoirse, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family, relatives and dear friends.

Reposing at Rock's Funeral Home, Swords on Sunday (August 24th) from 1 - 2 p.m. Removal on Monday (August 25th) morning to St. Cronan's Church, Brackenstown arriving for 11 a.m. Mass followed by funeral to Dardistown Crematorium. Tony (Anthony) Mc Clave

Clerkin Funeral Directors regret to announce that the death has occurred of Tony (Anthony) Mc Clave, Mullaghmore West, Ballinode, Co.Monaghan and retired teacher of St. Mary's Primary School, Monaghan, peacefully surrounded by his cherished family, Friday the 22nd August, in the wonderful care of the management and staff of Cavan General Hospital, having previously been wonderfully cared for at Drumbear Lodge Nursing home and also by his close family. Predeceased by his parents Tom & Annie, his brothers Sean, Jim, Michael, Tommy & Vincent and his sister Susanna and his twin sister Madge.

Tony will be sadly missed by his brothers Patrick & Louis, his sister Kathleen, his sister in law Bernadette, his extended family, neighbours and friends.

Tony will be reposing at Clerkins Funeral Home Milltown, Monaghan (H18 YF22) on Saturday the 23rd from 4pm until 8pm. Tony's Funeral procession will arrive on Sunday the 24th to St Mary's Urbleshanny for 11:30am Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
