Man killed in quad incident named

The man killed in a fatal incident in Killeshandra on Sunday morning has been named as Padraig (Paudie) O'Reilly.

The Bawn, Killeshandra man lost his life in a quad incident at a premises near the town.

Paudie, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem examination was due to take place.

The Health and Safety Authority have since launched an investigation into the incident.

Paudie was beloved husband of Schira and devoted father of Grace and Finn.

He is sadly missed by his loving wife, daughter, son, father Meehaul, mother Patricia, sisters and brother, Mairéad, Fearghal, Aishling, Sinead and Aoishe, parents in law Alan and Phil Lynch, brothers in law, sisters in law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral arrangements for Paudie will be posted later.

Tributes for Paudie have been widespread in the town since the tragic news of his passing.

A social media post by the local childcare service there read: "The Circle of Friends Team were deeply saddened to hear the news of the untimely passing of Padraig (Paudie) O'Reilly on Sunday morning.

"Paudie's children Grace and Finn have been a big part of the Circle of Friends Service over the years.

"We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Paudie's wife Schira, Daughter Grace, Son Finn, his mother, father, brother, sisters and extended family on this terrible loss. May the light shine upon him."

Round four of the Rudden's Service Station Junior Football Championship between Killeshandra and Kildallen was also postponed. The game was due to take place in Drumlane at 2.30pm.

A HSA spokesperson stated: "The HSA is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further information is available at this time."
