Cavan resident appointed principal of leading FET college

A former assistant principal in Cavan Institute has been appointed principal of one of the country’s largest Further Education and Training (FET) colleges in the country.

Catherine Fox will take up the role of principal of Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training in September.

Dunboyne College is currently one of the largest colleges of its type in the country with close to 1,400 full-time students and apprentices, as well as over 500 part-time students.

The new principal brings with her a wealth of experience across the FET sector, academia and industry. She is currently deputy principal at Dunboyne College.

Ms Fox holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, Anthropology, English, and Economics from Maynooth University, and a Masters in Journalism from Dublin City University. She has also completed postgraduate studies in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Programme Design and Validation.

She has played a pivotal role in the college’s continued development and success drawing on her extensive industry background. Her previous roles include assistant principal at Cavan Institute, and lecturer at Martin-Luther University in Germany.

In addition to her academic experience, Ms Fox worked as a journalist and communications consultant, most recently with Combilift, the Monaghan-based global forklift manufacturer and previously with Carr Communications and as Editor of Garda Review.

During her time in Cavan Institute, she was responsible for the development of the Institute’s Erasmus European Exchange programme and served as a member of Cavan Chamber of Commerce.
