Electric Picnic revellers in good spirits despite weather warning

Electric Picnic campers are being warned to prepare for rain overnight or early tomorrow morning.

A cold night is in store, however conditions are expected to pick up by Saturday afternoon.

Pictures taken at the Three Charge & Chill area at Electric Picnic on Friday night showed fans enjoying the atmosphere despite the weather warning.

Eighty thousand people are attending the three-day festival in Stradbally in Co Laois featuring Chappell Roan, Hozier, Sam Fender, and Fatboy Slim.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather said anyone camping should take steps to keep their tent dry tonight.

Mr O'Reilly told Newstalk: "The main advice for campers really is make sure your tent is closed up really well and pitched really well, Friday night into Saturday morning so the rain runs off the tent and not into the tent.

"Make sure you close it really well because I've seen over the years people come home really late at night, the last thing on their mind is making sure the tent is going to be closed properly but you do want to make sure of that... and woolly socks and a woolly hate in the tent as well."
