WHAT: A table quiz will take place thisin Burn’s pub for a fundraising table quiz for Shercock Tidy Towns. Your support would be greatly appreciated. €10 per person.
Loop the Lakes
WHERE: Killeshandra
WHEN: Saturday, August 30
WHAT: The annual Killeshandra Loop the Lakes Charity run/walk. Long route of 7km/shorter route of 3.5km. Starting at Killeshandra Community Hall, the walk will bring you along the main roads around the town and then into the "very scenic" areas around Killykeen Forest Park. Funds raised will go to SOSAD Cavan, Cavan Autism Parents Supports and FOCUS Family Resource Centre. As always, there will be a few surprises along the route with stewards handing out refreshments and a treasure hunt for children. The Columban Way

WHAT: Cavan welcomes the Columbans, as does Maudabawn 'Turas Columbanus' The Columban Way: Join us on this 12km spiritual pilgrimage, one of the four Irish legs of the historical Columban Way Camino on Saturday, August 30. 10:30am - Shuttle bus leaving Maudabawn Church car park, 11am - Walk beginning from Corleck Head signboard, Corleck, Drumeague. 2pm (approx.) - Light refreshments in Gallonray House upon arrival back in Maudabawn. 4pm - Mass at the Grotto. Everyone is welcome.

'Big Houses' of County Cavan

WHAT: Virginia and District Historical Society supported by Virginia Library presents a talk on The 'Big Houses' of County Cavan by Dr Jonathan Cherry., Assistant Professor of Geography and Deputy Head of the School of History and Geography at DCU These 'Big Houses' vividly express the legacy of Landlordism. These houses were once the family homes of the Landlords of County Cavan. The origins, distribution and scale of these houses will be discussed.
