Car clocked doing 144km/h in a 100km/h zone

A car was caught speeding at 144km/h near Mullahoran by gardaí during a campaign to bring attention to road safety.

An Garda Síochána flagged the example of clocking a driver doing 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N55 at Kilcogy, when highlighting National Slowdown Day.

During the campaign which ran for 24 hours gardaíalong with GoSafe Mobile and Static Safety Cameras, detected a total of 920 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

The aim of National SlowDown Days is to remind motorists of the serious risks associated with excessive or inappropriate speed, promote greater compliance with speed limits and support efforts to deter and detect dangerous driving behaviours.
