Dance For David raises over €80,000 for charity in one day of dancing

A school will be built in Africa in memory of David O’Reilly it has emerged after an amazing response to a fundraiser held earlier summer.

JivinGym hosted a charity event, Dance For David, on Saturday, June 28 in Fairways Hotel, Dundalk in memory of their dear dancing friend, David O’Reilly from County Cavan.

Bringing together dancers and supporters from across Cavan community and beyond for 14 hours of jiving and line dancing the event raised over €80,000 in a single day.

On Monday, October 6 at 12pm, a special celebration and cheque presentation will take place at the Cavan Crystal Hotel. Representatives from the benefiting charities, including Adsum Foundation, LA519 and SOSAD Cavan & Monaghan will be present.

Adsum Foundation will use the funds to build a school in Africa in David’s memory. With match funding, they will build two schools instead of one bringing the overall impact to €119,000.

Since the launch of JivinGym’s charity dance events, including last year’s Dance For Lucy and this year’s Dance For David, the JivinGym Dance community has raised an incredible €250,000 for those in need.

The team hopes that sharing these results will bring comfort to donors across Cavan and beyond, showing exactly how their generosity has been used to create lasting change.
