Big day for Bon Secours Clinic

Bon Secours Clinic Cavan will celebrate the official opening of its expanded premises in Drumalee Health Campus, Cootehill Road, Cavan, later today.

The expansion is part of the clinic's continued aim to improve local access to some of the country’s leading medical and surgical consultants for the people of Cavan, Monaghan and surrounding areas.

The official opening of the new bespoke, state-of-the-art medical facility will take place this Friday, October 3, at 2pm when Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Niamh Smyth, will perform the honours.

The opening of the marks a new chapter for Bon Secours Clinic Cavan, which first opened its doors in 2016 on the Farnham Road in Cavan Town and demonstrates its commitment to the ongoing delivery of accessible, high-quality, patient-centred health care in the region.

The new clinic boasts a modern, welcoming environment with three consulting and two diagnostic rooms, which have been tailored for patient comfort and convenience. Patients have access to seven different specialties including cardiology, gastroenterology, general and colorectal surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics, urology, and vascular surgery with 13 consultant specialists attend for regular clinics. On-site cardiac and vascular testing and scanning services are also available ensuring a seamless patient experience under one roof.

Since opening its doors in 2016, patient numbers have grown significantly and have resulted in over 12,000 patients, who would otherwise have had to travel to Dublin or other large centres, to be seen by a specialist closer to home.

Free parking is also available adjacent to the clinic.

Having quicker and more convenient access to some of the country’s leading specialists means that patients only have to travel to Dublin for their procedure and their pre and post procedure appointments take place in the clinic.

Sharon Morrow, CEO, Bon Secours Hospital Dublin and Bon Secours Clinic Cavan, said the opening of the clinic is a most exciting time for the team.

“It demonstrates Bon Secours’ ongoing and long-term commitment and investment in improving access to specialist care outside of large urban areas. The additional space that is now available to us in the new clinic will allow existing services to expand further and for the introduction of new and complimentary services and specialties, which will come on-line in the coming months.

“We look forward to continuing to work with local GPs and other healthcare providers in the provision of advanced medicine and exceptional care to their patients.”

Appointments to see one of the specialist team is by GP referral and co-ordinated by the on-site Clinic Manager, Sarah McGlade.

Bon Secours Clinic Cavan is part of Bon Secours Health System, Ireland’s largest independent hospital group and is an outpatient clinic affiliated to Bon Secours Hospital Dublin.
