Council to decide Budget 2026

THE DATE for this year's Cavan Councty Council budget meeting has been set.

Members of the council will meet on Friday, November 21, at Cavan Courthouse.

Councillors will meet beforehand to discuss all items included in the budget including the Annual Rate On Value in a private pre-budget meeting a few days earlier on Wednesday, November 19.

As well as deciding rates for 2026, elected members will have to decide on how the budget for the incoming year will be spent.

Each year the Minister for Local Government prescribes the period for holding these statutory meetings, and the budget must be adopted within 21 days of the first meeting.

The Department also decides the amount each council will receive in terms of a Local Government Fund grant.

Budget meeting is set for Friday, November 21, with the time to be confirmed. Usually it is at 10:30am.
