Bailieboro town centre funding
The Chief Executive of Cavan County Council has welcomed the recent allocation of €792,000 for a major town centre regeneration project focused on Main Street in Bailieborough.
The funding forms part of a €1.4M investment in two landmark Rural Regeneration Projects announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary (October 10). The second project, based in Clones, will receive €664,668 for the development of a new community hub at St Tiernach’s Park.
Welcoming the Bailieborough investment, Mr Doyle described the funding as a “significant endorsement” of the local elected members’ commitment to supporting transformative development projects.
Mr Doyle also echoed the sentiments of Fianna Fáil Councillor Niall Smith, who highlighted the funding announcement during the council’s October meeting, extending his thanks to Director of Services Paddy Connaughton, Town Regeneration Officer Caroline Brady, and others involved in progressing the town development plan.
The Bailieborough project looks to enhance the town’s public realm, support local businesses, and improve accessibility. Key elements include upgraded streetscapes, improved pedestrian infrastructure, and measures to increase footfall and vibrancy.
The plan is part of Cavan County Council’s broader strategy to support sustainable rural development, attract investment, and create a more attractive and liveable town centre for residents, visitors, and future generations.
