Cavan Town has been named the Tidiest Town in County Cavan in this year’s TidyTowns Awards 2025, also earning a Gold Medal and the Pollinator Award in recognition of its environmental and community initiatives.
Judges praised the town’s committee, volunteers, and project partners, noting, “It was a pleasure to visit Cavan Town and see your work at first hand. Be confident that your efforts are making a positive difference, and we urge you all to keep up the good work.” They highlighted that the key entrances to Cavan provide a “positive first impression” for visitors and commended the town’s high standard of litter control observed during adjudication.
Meanwhile, Carrick-on-Shannon in County Leitrim was announced as Ireland’s Tidiest Town for 2025, taking home the coveted title alongside Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town. Other award winners included Carraig Airt TidyTowns in County Donegal, which received the prestigious Gaeltacht Award, and Corofin TidyTowns in County Clare, recognised with the Young Persons in TidyTowns Award.
The results were revealed at the SuperValu TidyTowns Awards ceremony at Croke Park, Dublin, on Friday, 24 October. Around 600 volunteers attended the event in person, while thousands more tuned in online to celebrate the achievements of communities across Ireland.
This year’s competition saw a record-breaking 929 entries, the highest number in its history since the awards were first launched in 1958, demonstrating the continued passion and commitment of communities nationwide to creating vibrant, sustainable towns and villages.
