Flying high for Holy Family school
After completing a charity skydive, Shane Loughlin presented a cheque to the principal of the Holy Family School. As a former student, the school is close to Shane’s heart.
“I felt very proud and it was kind of emotional,” he told the Celt.
Shane left the school 22 years ago, however still remembers the care shown to him while he was there. He still visits regularly and was delighted to be able to hand the cheque to current principal Rachel Moynagh, who was a teacher when he was a student there.
“I never thought I’d be able to do it so it was a great achievement for me.”
The 39-year-old jumped out of a plane 10,000 feet above on August 16.
“The skydive was amazing, it was just incredible.
Flying over the scenery of Edenderry, Shane admits it was “a bit scary” going up on the plane.
“It was a great experience,” he though reflects.
The Cavan man raised a total of €3,307, which he presented to the HFS principal at Cavan Library.
Supported by Teach Oscail Administration Team Leader Martin McCaffrey, Shane thanked everybody who supported his fundrasier.
Now firmly back on the ground after his experience, he hopes to hold another fundraiser in the “near future” however has yet to decide what he will embark on next.
